Naoko Kakuta is a still life photographer based in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Her work centers on still life, studio, and product photography — creating quiet, intentional images that highlight form, texture, and design.
With a background in visual arts from Tama Art University in Tokyo, Naoko approaches photography with an artist’s eye for balance and detail. Her imagery blends technical precision with minimal, refined aesthetics, transforming everyday objects into thoughtful visual stories.
Since 2017, Naoko has been an in-house photographer at Cuyana, leading e-commerce and studio photography. She collaborates closely with creative and merchandising teams to produce cohesive imagery that reflects the brand’s refined visual identity.
Before joining Cuyana, she worked as a freelance photographer, producing still life, product, and editorial photography for publications and brands including San Francisco Magazine, Yoga Journal, 7x7 Magazine, and Rothy’s.
She also worked as a freelance retoucher, providing high-end post-production services for commercial and editorial clients such as Gap, Samsung, Surface Magazine, and Applied Materials.
Naoko’s work reflects a deep appreciation for simplicity, craftsmanship, and the subtle details that bring design to life.
